It’s been a while since the last update - I’m writing this in October
nursing a broken collar bone and some (maybe) broken ribs. July wasn’t the
best month either because I spent most of it waiting for the results of a
spinal x ray, under strict orders not to ride bikes until injury was ruled
out. Luckily(?) it is only arthritis.
Personally only managed 6 rides this month, 5 road rides and a single
mountain bike ride. Some of the other lads ventured out, attempting to
remember their way round rides we’ve done many times before. They always
managed to return home, although I’m led to believe it was only touch and
go in some cases. Apparently The Captain dusted off the Cannondale Push
for a couple of rides.
Stockton Cycling Festival occurred in July, with many cycling
activities on show including a road race, an evening criterium, Skyride
and some sportive type rides of varying distances, the longest being
almost 100 miles around the North York Moors and going up the dreaded
Chimney Bank. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) we were all working
that weekend. I did manage to get down to Stockton Riverside for the
finish of the road race and have a general look round at the various
stalls and displays.
Another first this month was taking a bike over The Transporter, the
iconic ‘bridge’ over the Tees, which is not a bridge at all but suspended
platform which carries cars and foot passengers from Middlesbrough to Port
Clarence.
It’s all so long ago I can’t really recall anything else that might
have happened, we’ll have to let the pictures tell the story. Thanks to
Jordan Foote for being the photographer on the rides I couldn’t attend.
