Not a great deal of riding this month, owing to other commitments, however what we did was worth the effort.

3rd. Joined by the Terra Trailblazers Youth Team today, all one of them, a twenty year old BMX'er out to see what all the fuss is about big wheels and stunt-free riding. Still sticking with spring-like weather, we plodded up the hill to Carlton Bank and made our way to the little known valley of Thackdale to explore the caves. The exploration proved short lived owing to lighting problems, one intermittently working torch and a head light inadvertently left in the car. Back on the bikes we rode through Live Woods to Faceby and ultimately Whorlton Castle for a little Time Team type action, followed by a bit of puncture repair type action on 3 out of 4 bikes, owing to thorns picked up on the track from Faceby. Whorlton Castle is allegedly one of the most haunted buildings in Yorkshire. Mini-pump muscles suitably exercised we rode through Swainby, then the more familiar territory of Clain Woods, before the slog up Scugdale and back over Carlton Bank for chip butties and coffee.

5th A bit of a Billy No-Mates day today, just had a scrounge around Guisborough Woods, Roseberry, Millbank Woods and round and about. Quite muddy bit stayed dry.

13th Out alone again, exploring some of the new “secret “ tracks around the area. Particularly good is the prequel to The Chute, if you know where The Chute is you can’t miss it.

14th Pretty much the same route as yesterday, accompanied by Oz, to show him the quality of the new tracks. Most impressed he was too, I daresay Simon might have been too if he could have dragged himself off the settee. Even the pleasant weather wasn’t enough to tempt him.
